What do I do when my husband goes away?
Shop.
Ha.
I went to an outlet mall this morning. And now I am going to the Jones New York factory store. I need nice things. But I don't need to pay through the nose for them.
I do wonder why I am doing all this shopping now (I am also going shopping with Maria tomorrow afternoon, in an area of the city I've only been to once, and briefly); I've had the flexibility to shop for a good while. I guess part of it could be good things happening on the job front; I am hoping not to have so much flexibility soon.
Anyway I didn't buy anything frivolous. I'm not known for that, unless you're talking about DVDs. And some don't consider movies (or, um, TV on DVD) to be frivolous at all.
OK, leaving now.

Here I am, getting ready to take my husband to the airport. This will be the first weekend (and first night, for that matter) I spend in Toronto without him. Should be interesting.
He's off to, guess what, a geek conference! And he'll spend this evening with Dave, of this I am quite jealous, I miss him. I might have gone, but I was hoping to have a full-time job by this point, plus the expense of an extra plane ticket with Dave busy with the MS Ride the rest of the weekend didn't make sense. I injured myself the other day so I will spend some time nursing that (much better already but ow), and some time dealing with domestic stuff, and some time out and about. Wednesday, June 21

If you live in Toronto, even if you are lactose intolerant, go to the Cheese Boutique.
Food tourism at it's finest. It is crammed with all kinds of...stuff. And the people inside the square of cheese/meat/pate/etc cases will help you choose. With samples. And they had fresh peas. I love fresh peas. They are expensive, but entirely worth it as you don't even have to cook them, they are so delicious. We ate them on Monday night along with, of course, some stinky cheese and a few other treats. The spicy sardines were a little too much for me, but Joey loved them. Tonight, I will finally cook with my Thai basil. Tuesday, June 20

High school geometry. Mr. Jameson. He used to try to get us to do math by yelling strange stuff, and it usually worked. So whenever he needed us to switch something around, he'd yell: Rea -- rrange! with a big pause in the middle, in an attempt to get us to finish the word with him.
I've been thinking of this because we rearranged (see?) some of our furniture, and we're doing a big shuffle of all our things. It just hasn't been as cozy since all my stuff arrived all at once a few months ago. So now we're making it work better. And it's actually happening. Joey set up the cabinets himself when he moved in a couple of months before the wedding, so now I'm sort of squashing things together to make room for more. Stuff like that. He's dealing more with closets, now that the furniture is all in place. Who knew what bringing the table 18 inches out into the room could do? I think my plants are very happy with the new arrangement. Monday, June 19

What does it mean when someone never asks you a question?
Does it mean the person isn't interested? Is introverted? Wants you to volunteer all information because the person can't be bothered? I'm sure it could be any of these, or one of a hundred other reasons. But I always ask questions, I'm super-curious all the time, and I wonder whether I should stop asking questions of people who never ask me anything. It's kind of weird and intimidating. Are they giving me a hint? Shut up, Wendy. Here I am, asking lots of questions. Heh. I had a nice weekend, by the way. |
