I am now the proud owner of both an Ontario driver's license (well, the paper temporary one they give you right away; the actual license will come in the mail) and a Thai basil plant.

The DriveTest centre (there I go with the Canerdian spelling) is just over the line in Mississauga, and I'd never driven west of the airport on Eglinton, but I did it and instinctually knew which strip mall it had to be in - that's the one, I felt, and it was.  I only had to wait about half an hour, and the actual process took about five minutes - and $75.

Then, Plant World, where they had all manner of herb plants, and vegetables, and tomato-rama.  I only bought the Thai basil though, to keep my cilantro company (it's growing fast; I may just leave off the Miracle Gro after all).  I thought about some chives, but the plants they had on hand didn't look fabulous.  What did look incredible was the marjoram, but I don't think I've ever used marjoram.  The catnip looked lovely too but I don't have a cat.  Joey's allergic, and we're waiting for the time when we can get a dog anyway.

Tonight I am having dinner with a couple of friends.  Just me and two women friends.  Social life!  I have one!  We are ostensibly talking about the last book club book, since one of them missed the discussion, and the other and I need more time on it.  But I think we will have excellent fun.  Considering I met up with Maria for drinks last night and Joey joined us for dinner, this is quite a good week socially - there's a lot going on this weekend as well.  Now, I just need a job.  Hee.
