I will be attending my college reunion.
Last night I paid the fees, signed up for lobster for Joey, chicken for
me (yes, I was born in Maine and don't particularly love lobster); it's
expensive, a splurge for one weekend's entertainment, but one's
ten-year college reunion only happens once. Plus, lots of my
classmates have become very fancy, and I'd like to see it for
myself. Wellesley is the
top women's college in the US, and generally hovers around the 4th best
liberal arts college in the country. I may not have had the
typical fabulous four years - in fact, my best semester was my semester away - but I certainly had some good professors, and some good friends.
Plus, I miss the campus. I first lived there in the summer of 1988, at Explo.
I spent five summers at Explo as a student and three as staff (if you
are reading this, and went to/worked at Explo, I encourage you to
comment, I loved Explo), on
top of my actual Wellesley years (the Senior Program didn't move to
Yale until maybe 2000), and then when I was working for Princeton Review, I spent a lot of time there for a couple more summers, coordinating the Explo SAT classes.
That's quite a bit of time.
Joey should sit with me on one of the wooden benches that overhang the
lake. If the door's not locked, I'll show him the view from the
roof of Alumnae Hall, the building in which I spent more time than in
my dorm while I was in school. My class is based in
Pomeroy, which is next to Shafer, where I did sleep sophomore through
senior years...there were some good times.
I hope Lisa comes. I think I'd better find her email address and try to convince her.

Aw, I didn't go to Explo. But I did go to Vassar - to visit, on occasion. And there I learned all about the wonder that is Wellesley, and about how, as a Women's Studies major, I obviously should have gone there (if I hadn't, in this theoretical universe where I could have afforded US foreign student fees at private universities, gone to Vassar itself, of course). They too sported unlocked doors on campus at the craziest times, for the most unlikely buildings - the telescope observatory one random night at 2am (the night we first tried the doors), and never again (though not because of anything we did), for example.
Last year was my official I-was-originally-a-95 decade reunion at Queen's; this year is my I-actually-graduated-in-1996-due-to-giant-illness decade reunion, and we can't afford to go. Which is sort of terribly sad, but also okay, at the same time. I really believe in reunions, and went to my high school reunion a few years ago against my better judgement, though in the end it was very instructive to see that the-now-Dr. Hyndman was still Eric-the-spaz from high school, and that no matter how far away from the eighties we get, some people got stuck there, intellectually, for whatever incomprehensible reason. But I went to our five-year for university, and it was awesome. So I hope you have a great time, and enjoy the chicken! Re: Re: It is official

Hi Ashley!
Tuition in the States is a horrendous fact of life for people in the suburbs of Massachusetts. A) Parents spend all the money they can possibly scrape up or B) students are stuck with killer loans; it's just kind of done, which is twisted in a way, but the majority of my high school classmates were A) or B). C), going to work, the military, or community college, was a small portion. In other areas and other states, C) is a much larger population. There is the University of Massachusetts, which is a lot less expensive, but it's still more than University in Canada, and they can only manage so many students. I loved my five-year high school reunion so much that I was disappointed by the ten, but I'll still go to all subsequent ones I can get to, because my high school experience was intense and beautiful and ugly, and I've known half those people since age five and the other half since age 13. Wellesley...well...indeed the Women's Studies, in which I did an undocumented minor, is sparkling. But I had a hard time there. I am curious more than anything, to see what people are like now, and to catch up. And I do feel a strong connection to the place. I'm just a little afraid that I won't feel connected to the humans, since I haven't stayed in good touch. But Joey's coming with me, so we can always hide together. Re: Re: Re: It is official

As humans, we're simply born into one of these dog training classes: chief or follower. As these couple types are extremes of one another, you may simply be a chief, or a buff, tiny is there of any fashion in between these puppy training. Some might contest though, that you could be both at one time, the chief to numerous and a buff to one. There are more teach dog tricks to outlook out for to review if or not you're a chief or a follower. The bulk all over individual aspect is the abilities to generate determinations not simply for yourself, but in supplement for remnant as prolonged as dog behavior training.Take this covering for example; each post-graduate learner is rewarded a cubicle each, which doesn't draw seal for loose though. Most would just announce no just because it doesn't draw seal free to wholesale dog supplies. The actual justification behind their tenacity is the portion that none wants to act on away from the crowd. When one or couple of them creates a tenacity to receive one cubicle in any dog supplies, remnant in the past prolonged followed not far behind. One later another, the cubicles are being filled. Sadly, there just isn't passable room for everyone. Even as learners with very competent standings and privileges, not all are competent to take find how to lose weight and generate stern life correcting determinations on their own. A buff would perpetually have determinations organised for them, perpetually staring to lose weight to play-act first after the time arises. If you're one of those any person who essentially have a darling to move out with the accumulation, it's come seal time to commence correcting and take find fault for once. belly fat is a yardstick journalist for a many cluster of themes and subjects.
